Healthy Lifestyle Challenge

So I thought I might update my blog on the adventures of me trying to figure out and maintain a healthy lifestyle change for my family. I honestly didn't and still don't think I was feeding my family horrible foods and unhealty meals, but I knew I could do better. Chris and myself always talk about doing this and that, losing weight, eating healthier and excercising more. Most of the time with our busy lives nothing ever comes up it except another conversation down the road about the same things. Since I have been blessed to be at home with my family for a few months and really think about every meal we are eating I decided right now is a better time than not to get ahold of our eating habits, change them and really get an established lifestyle going before I head back to work (now is just a few more weeks...sad but it will all work out for the best) I have becoming absorbed by different blogs, online Paleo sites, pinterest and facebook pages. The majority of my facebook feed now is Paleo eating, Just Eat Right and other healthy eating receipes and updates for me. It really helps me find easy dinner ideas and it on my mind when I am on facebook at least daily and seeing these things constantly. I have about 10 new blogs I follow now and a LONG list of bookmarks on my phone. Hopefully I can figure out how to organize all this coming at me and really get a handle on a few things. I have been trying different things, what will be easy dinners, what might take more time, figuring out how to grocery shop, stubstitues for other things, Chris breakfast/lunch/snacks....honestly that is the hardest because he works on his feet and he only wants to eat veggies/fruits/meats he is runing out of energy through the day so I am having to come up with creative ideas to get him to eat more carbs or proteins to keep up his energy. Again all learning and I love it! As I find things my idea is I can sit down and update my blog so I have a go-to place for things I read and follow and in the rare chance that someone else who is trying to make changes wants to follow and read what i am finding then great! Hopefully it won't be another 6 months before I update again...wouldnt' put it past me though :)

Living and Learning!

Kaia is growing so quickly! Yesterday she wanted something off the counter. She could see it but it was just barely out of her reach. The next thing I know, she is on a mission! She pulls out the potatoes, gets the tupperware with the rice in it, puts it down on the ground, then proceeds to put the potatoes back and close the cabinet. She steps on the tupperware and gets the cookie!! It was her plan the whole time! Its so fun to see her learn, and to problem solve, now that was a surprise!

She is a little jabber mouth too, always copying what I am saying *to her best ability* and trying to sing. That was another thing she did that was super cute. I was playing video's back on my camera and she heard me singing Itsy Bitsy Spider, so she went to get her book that has the song in it and proceeded to sit down and start singing. It was the cutest thing ever!

Tonight we are going to visit my Aunt and Cousin Kayla, it should be fun. Miss them!

Pondering Life...as is

I wish I may, I wish I might, have a part time job and be able to spend more time with my family and friends in the near future. That is my main wish right now, and Chris and I are really trying to make it happen the best we can.

Someday maybe we will move back to Corvallis or find a place closer in Vancouver that creates the same feeling I get when I go down to Corvallis. I am just looking for more piece of mind, more relaxation and less worry. More one on one time with things that are important to me, even though I am blessed and thankful with what I have been able to do so far.

Kaia can now firmly say JJ, Lei, Kitty, More, Milk, Please, Bye and Hi lol. But she thinks she can say A TON more and copies everything I say. It cracks me up!

First times a charm

I can't make any promises this will be updated often, or even once in awhile but I have been watching movies and TV lately, and have become inspired to "blog" what is going on in my life and ideas that are floating in my head. Even my opinions when I feel like I must. *I had to add a picture, just to see what it looked like :) This was her eating crackers when Auntie Ape. She was trying to tell her they fell down*

Recently I have in talks with a close freind about an idea she had with opening a childrens store. Both of us, and many of our other friends, are upset it's not easier to find "Made in the USA" toys, clothes, clothe diapers, really anything baby. All of us really try to support local and shop in our neighborhoods as much as we can, but it's still frustrating when your on a mission and cannot find what you need unless China put it together. We have been talking about looking into getting a little store front avaliable to local mom's as well who make things and sell them on places such as Etsy and others. There are so many Mom's out there that are creative and trying to make something of themselves and we really want to help them. As long as with the Mom knick knacks we are searching for baby products only made in the USA. Not saying our store won't have other things made not in the US but that is our main focus as a store. We are still in the brainstorming part of the process and really trying to figure out the reality of it. Fingers crossed though, we are both SUPER passionate about getting it started and that can take you places you never imagined!

Kaia continues to grow :( everyday she seems to be getting bigger and bigger. It makes me yearn for another little one, but as a family we just are not ready yet. It will happen when it happens, but in the mean time I am really trying to think of ways we can have fun with Kaia outside our home, helping her grow as a person and enjoy life as much as she can. Currently she is crazy about dancing and copying me when I stomp or swing my arms. I love watching her watch me then do it herself, she cracks me up. Whenever I look back at her in the car and she notices she will start bobbing her head or moving her arms to the music to make me laugh! Lol She has such a great sense of humor at her age I love it! She is almost 15 months which I cannot believe has gone by so fast! Actually her daycare just took some pictures of her for their "daycare pictures" and we had to get them. They had one with all her classmates which is one of the cutest things ever. We will definately be putting that in the books.

Putting it in the books made me think of how much I want to get back into scrapbooking. It's not do-able with Kaia running around since she only entertains herself for a good 30 min. and that would leave me with getting everything out and organizing it to putting it away as soon as it was done. I will have to think of a way to find some time though to get that done, those books are so valuable and awesome to have when the babies are older and able to look back at the fun they had and how stinkin cute they were! I will make that a goal next month, to get at least 2 pages done for her book! It's settled!

I guess that's it for now. We will see when I write back again :)
